Gayton McKenzie Threw Out The Baby with Bath Water!

By Abuti Elmond

I went through Gayton McKenzie's Open Letter to Julius Malema and I feel like responding to him than congratulating him for being so brave to mis-educate our people. Although I don't know if the letter will reach him, I'll just direct it to him with the hope that he'll be informed by his buddies when they purchase clothes worth more than an annual salary of a farmworker.

NSFAS or FREE EDUCATION

Although NSFAS and its predecessor, TEFSA, could be applauded for having ‘afforded’ few poor students with tertiary education in the past, the stubborn facts jiggle and expose the model, that it can never be able to fund all needy students primarily because it is under capitalist system.

South African economy is overflowing with enormous wealth to meet the needs of the working class youth, so much that we can say without fear of contradiction; that if the economy was collectively owned,

Open letter to the rank and file of SASCO and other progressive organizations

Dear CompaƱeros

Having heard of your congress outcomes and resolutions, the Workers and Socialist Party felt it necessary to send you its revolutionary greetings, solidarity and to take this opportunity to humbly share with you as we have been doing with the rest of the working class movement, our analysis of the current economic and political situation as well as our vital conclusions on the most essential features, the fundamental strategic and tactical tasks facing the working class, youth and indeed, their mass fighting organisations such as the South African Student Congress.

Socialist Youth Movement (SYM) condemns the attacks directed at Sekhukhune Express (SE) Comrades.

We have learned with great sadness that the leadership of SASCO and ANC in Motetema has went all out to attack members of Sekhukhune Express, an independent students’ organization that has joined Workers and Socialist Party (WASP). The attacks come after the rescheduling of SRC Elections in Sekhukhune FET College where SE is enjoying massive support from the students’ populace.

Qualitative and Quantitative Growth of SYM! Forward We Go. Backward Never

The tremendous work done by comrades in UNISA is commendable. We applauded the comrades in Tshwane University of Technology last year when they managed to raise the Socilaist Youth Movement banner and put the ideas of socialism in the public domain and the same should be done for SYM Unisa Branch.

SYM continues to gain strength and we are witnessing quantitative as well as qualitative growth in relation to membership. After the launch of the structure last year, I can attest that we have members in about 8 provinces and working on building structures in all the provinces. We don't have champagnes and whiskies but revolutionary ideas and program for young people who join us.

We have to use every opportunity and platform to raise the class consciousness of our people. The world is watching us and many are inspired by the work we are doing in South Africa.
