SOLIDARITY WITH NIGERIAN STUDENTS, AND WORKERS

"The problem with the Federal Government is not about ASUU demands, but to destroy the educational system, because they know that it is a vehicle for social mobility. After all, they are sending their children to study abroad. The present salary of a professor in Nigerian universities is N3,859,078.60 per annum while a local government chairman earns N13.9 million, a permanent secretary, an executive secretary, chief executives of parastatals and Vice-chancellors earn about N22 million per year. A Federal High Court Judge earns N26, 875,840, a Federal House member earns N35,932,346,30 and a Senator earns N36,677,840.00 annually. “We want Nigerians to judge for themselves why the Federal Government cannot meet our demand." ASUU President, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, 2009.

The Jonathan’s Government serves the interests of Imperialists and therefore disregards the interests of workers and the poor. We call for NANS under the leadership of Yinka Gbadebo, to have a united front with the ASSU Leadership and demand free education now! It has been for months now since the Federal Government has been undermining the efforts of ASSU to resolve the challenges facing Higher Education in Nigeria, students will not afford to have a strike after the ASUU-led strike as they see an opportunity to go back to school. NANS has been known of fighting the neo-liberal policies imposed by the Federal Government but this sudden withdrawal from the strike of workers will only weaken the working class and therefore giving Nigerian Elites to slaughter more workers like it is always the situation.

South African Students and Youth are facing similar challenges as Nigerian students. The Education System is a disaster, with the unfaithful-Communist Minister of Higher Education Blade Nzimande, controlling the workers union, National Education and Health Aligned Workers Union (NEHAWU). The biggest students organization (SASCO) is aligned to the ruling party making it a lapdog of the government, but students are still determined to fight for socialist South Africa and with your efforts we can be able to link our work and collectively fight for Socialist Africa.

Capitalism is destroying Africa and the world at large, yet the conscious activists are unable to fight collectively to smash this brutal system and usher a new society free from exploitation and oppression. We are calling for Socialism in South Africa, Africa and the World. We say, Workers of the World Unite for a socialist democracy. We have no one but ourselves to fight for socialist (quality-equal) education, decent working conditions and wages, to emancipate the working class and other oppressed social classes. “Amandla”— Power to the people

Unity or Defeat… Revolution or Nothing
